TBILISI, Georgia, 23 September 2013 — We’re halfway into the first of five days of our Backpack Video Journalism Workshop in Tbilisi, Georgia. Sponsored by the Thomson Reuters Foundation, I’m teaching regional journalists how to make powerful, character-driven documentaries. From the little I know about the region, it seems like this methodology is little used here, so I’m working with these students from the ground up. Today I showed my film, “Chain Gang.” They liked it.
